Toddler Rock is a collaborative outreach program between the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Riverside Academy of Music and the University Hospitals of Cleveland's Music Therapy Department. The objective of the program is to teach social and academic skills through music therapy and make the Rock Hall accessible to inner city children and parents from the Cleveland Metropolitan Housing Authority. The pilot program was conducted in November 1999 and has continued formally since March of 2000. This is a 8 week program for children from 3 to 6 year old and their parents. The size of the group ranges from 12 to 20 children in addition to their parents.
There are three programs annually beginning in the months of March, June and September, and each session is held at the Rock Hall's Hall of Fame on Thursday mornings. Music therapists leading this program are Deforia Lane from University Hospitals of Cleveland and Edward Gallagher from the Beck Center for the Arts. UH Music Therapy interns each facilitate a class. Additional staff includes Selena Daniels, Brenda Calovini, Maria Hernandez and Cara Davis.
